1. Is DHS an accounting firm? Yes and No. Yes since we provide many of the same classical accounting and tax services as accounting firms but no since our focus is on consulting and other value-added services.

2. Does DHS perform certified audits? Except for certain limited scope engagements, we do not perform certified audits. We do not hold ourselves out as independent of a client. In fact, we become an integral part of, or resource to management. We can assist your accounting staff in preparing for and dealing with the audit. We help you identify the key financial issues before the audit begins thus making the process smoother and more efficient.

3. Does DHS focus on specific industries? While DHS was originally established to provide consulting services to apparel and textile importers, we have since brought in staff and have expanded our scope to also include real estate, retail, service, not-for-profit, import/export and other industries.

4. Does DHS provide bookkeeping services? No. We do not record individual transactions into journals. However, we will install QuickBooks onto a client’s server, provide initial setup and staff training and be available to make periodic and year end adjustments in order to prepare meaningful management financial statements.

5. What size company is appropriate for DHS to handle? We can handle any size privately held company from pre start-up to companies with sales volume of up to $300 million. It is unlikely that multinational and NYSE listed companies would approach us since they would probably retain big name consulting firms such as Accenture and employ their own internal consultants.

6. Why use DHS? It depends on the prospective client and its situation. If a company seeks…
  • The least expensive accountant to “write up” its books annually and prepare a tax return, it should not come to us.

  • A trusted advisor to uncover, analyze and discuss various business and financial issues during the assignment, it should come to us.
7. What type of consulting does DHS perform? Our consulting falls into two main categories:
  1. Financial and business efficiency
  2. Financial analysis and/or tax advice to legally shelter profits.
